Semper Oceanus – always the ocean – was born from a deep creative inspiration drawn from the natural world. Robbie, the founder and craftsman, has found peace, inspiration, and connection through his personal relationship with creation, especially through his love for the coast. From the waves to sand dunes, kelp forests to redwood cathedrals, the undeniable power of the natural world leads us all to a deep part of our being.

It is this connection with nature, and the beauty discovered within it, that Robbie hopes to capture and preserve in his work.

His woodworking journey began almost by accident, as a side pursuit during his time living in the Redwood forests of Northern California. Surrounded by towering Redwoods, Robbie started salvaging slabs from removed trees, milling them himself, and crafting personal furniture for his home. Over time, he became acutely aware of the waste produced by various industries, and grew passionate about repurposing discarded, forgotten, and otherwise wasted materials.

Robbie's passion for storytelling through photography found a natural extension in the art of frame building. He believes the frame, which holds personal art, can be just as beautiful and meaningful as the piece itself – with its own story worth telling.
